Sometimes all I want to do is lock myself in a room and just make things. Crank up the tunes and build, design, create by hand and computer.
Just let it all flow and not give a damn about the market and the promotion and the P & L sheets.
Most of the time I feel very, very lucky. I make things for a living. And also, I don’t. I teach and I write and I market and I brand and I promote.
I love it all, but just like you, there are days when I love one passion more than the others. And today, this is it.

Sometimes the money and the passion mix well, and it’s beautiful. Sometimes they don’t.
Sometimes the passion changes. Always, the passion will evolve. And that’s okay.
Don’t ever let any ridiculous business guru or life coach tell you that your path has to be a straight and narrow one. If they say you are on the verge of mission creep, but you are certain you are onto something different, then it is they who are blinded by a lack of vision and innovation. Trust your gut. Only you know what you are capable of; others can only guess based on their own limited life experience. You can have vision, clarity, focus and create your own path full of twists and turns, blending passions at your will.
You can do it all. And yes, you can do it all at the same time, in some ways. But you have to be ready. You have to be ready for all of it: the good, the bad, the ugly. The hustle, the sacrifice, the criticism, the haters. This, I know.
That’s where I am today. This year is something big. I don’t know what or how or why. But I know it is, and I know I’m ready. For all of it. It’s time.
So here I am today, in the middle of a long weekend, and right now, right this very second, all I want to do is make pretty things. Printables and posters, temporary tattoos and wall art, homemade gifts and kick ass new logos, business cards, blog designs for clients.
And maybe eat some cookies.
