Repeat after me, moms and entrepreneurs everywhere: GOOD ENOUGH. This work is good enough. This house is good enough. I am good enough.
Learn this phrase; learn it well. The key to success is not perfection, but learning when to say “Good enough!” and moving on.
DONE is better than perfect.
Few experiences are as humbling as parenthood and as entrepreneurship. Combine the two and, well, it’s a rough-and-tumble roller coaster ride where perfection has no place.
Perfection leads to delays, costs you more time & money, blocks your creativity, and severely limits your potential. If you want to fail fast as an entrepreneur (or as a parent, for that matter) then focus on being perfect. While you are working toward perfection, your competition is out there making things happen.
We are all fighting to make things right. We are all working hard to make things good. We are all juggling in the hopes of finding harmony.
Now into my 8th year as a mom entrepreneur, I know this well. It is my daily mantra, my reminder that at the end of the day, it just needs to be good enough so that I can move on and do more, do better.
Strive for perfection, and you will fail. Done is better than perfect.
